Trevor W. McKeown: A Life Dedicated to the Craft

W. Bro. McKeown, a self-proclaimed “obscure Freemason of no authority,” brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to his new role. Born on the north bank of the Fraser River and raised amidst the rainforests of Haida Gwaii, his journey has been one of dedication to both the Craft and the written word.

With a thirty-year career spanning the evolution of the publishing industry, W. Bro. McKeown has honed his skills as an editor, writer, and publisher. This expertise has been invaluable to his Masonic endeavors. He joined King George Lodge No. 129 in 1980, serving as Master in 1996, and has held numerous significant positions within the Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon, including Grand Historian for eighteen of the last nineteen years.

His contributions to Masonic scholarship are extensive. He has authored annual monographs on Masonic events in his jurisdiction, meticulously documenting the history of the Craft in British Columbia and Yukon. In 2021, he produced revised editions of three cornerstone Masonic histories for his jurisdiction’s sesquicentenary. His dedication to preserving and sharing Masonic knowledge is further evidenced by his roles as editor of the Grand Lodge’s Masonic Bulletin, creator and administrator of their website, and curator of the Vancouver Masonic Library and Archives.
